Asking for publishers possible?

I''ve read some of the other posts about publishers, and non-disclosure agreements... Still, I am looking for a publisher. I was just wondering if it''s possible to ask for links to publishers without any information whether they''re good or not? I have contacted a few game companies and people offering services for publishing, but so far I did not find any companies that actually accept products from the ''outside''. (I must admit I am not mass-mailing every company I''ve heard of - I know they must all be very busy, so I only contact companies I think likely to do any publishing) I am sure I will be able to find some good links after searching even longer, but I am just wondering why it''s so hard to find any. (I guess it might be because they get too many questions from people that are not serious or have low quality software or designs to offer?) Hey, I hope this email doesn''t spoil my chance of ever getting my game published ;-) And then there''s the question whether I should put a link in the message to my website. Surely it sounds like a plug, but I''d also want to give interested people (or publishers even!) a chance to check out what they are potentially looking at... Anyway, let''s not put it in here, since it''s already in some of my other posts too (and you can always ask...) Maarten Egmond (still a bit puzzled about all this stuff about not telling anyone anything...)

If it''s a budget game, you can check out:

Egames

and

Crystal Interactive

The CEO of Crystal posts here sometimes.

Hope that helps.

For obvious reasons people dont like making claims here about publishers. However, I have found you can learn a lot from chatting to the people in #gamedev, you just have to be persistent enough to catch the right people in there at the right time.
And it IS worth doing. some poublishers are great, and some are useless...

What about a publisher list? I could use some new content in the Game Programming Citadel (http://www.nbsd.de/Citadel/index.html).
You can send me the URLs and names of the publishers you know, maybe with a short description, and I post them there. You'll stay annonymous for sure.

My companies website: www.nielsbauergames.com

Yes, I have noticed the claims about publishers. Which is why I asked for just publishers names without any referring to their quality. Like what''s just been suggested: setting up a list of publishers without assigning them any status.

In any case, I have a few names now, and I will keep looking for more. It''s always good to make a decision after checking out a few alternatives!

Thanks for the help so far!

Kind regards,
Maarten Egmond.
