DirectPlay 8 Send/To DPNSEND_GUARANTEED and TimeOut

When using the IDirectPlay8Server::SendTo() or IDirectPlay8Client::Send(), it is possible to set the message for Guaranteed delivery, there is also the possibility of a timeout value. To me, these two settings seem to contadict each other. Could someone please tell me if a message is set for "Guaranteed" delivery does the timeout value still apply? Cheers,

The (gaurenteed) message is *resent* after the timeout took place...
