A screenshot from the completed student project "Broadsides", a multiplayer game made in 10 weeks by Team Photon Monks at UC San Diego.

This image shows off our procedural terrain and building generation, mini-map, and incredible water shader. During this project, we learned a lot about networking, fine-tuning gameplay, the headaches of development on a time crunch, and how to work on a long-term project with a big team.

Team Photon Monks is a group of 8 student developers at UC San Diego. We are six software developers, one full-time artist, and one full-time musician. We hope you enjoy our work!

You can learn more about the game and download the final version on our official website:

Looks really great !
That is really a very pretty water shader.

Would you be willing to take a moment to describe how your procedural buildings are put together?

The water shader has amazing results! Are you willing to share technical info on it?

EDIT: I found the GLSL code in the game download. Thanks for keeping that as-is! Did you follow a specific book/pdf/etc?
Always nice to see some cool use of water shader in games...
Looks great! I like the way they keep sailing as they sink lol! :D
