Shareware registration rate

Yeah, I''ve read all of those, and surely they are very interesting. I think Pavlina spoke somewhere in his texts about a common registration rate of about 1%. I''d like to know how much common it is to get such a registration rate.

Thanks you all for your answers, specially DavidRM... and please I''d like to hear some other histories of shareware developers, even if those weren''t successful. In fact, I really want to hear about some big failures in the shareware industry, and what could have made those happen.

Please, all of you who''ve had experience in shareware, post here how good it''s been. It haven''t to be the registration rates, even if you don''t know how those were, I''d surely like to hear about how well it went.

Some of you will surely think "if you want to know, go make a try", but in fact that''s what I''m doing right now (I''m working hard in a game to be released as shareware). It''s just that I''d like to know how much I can trust in its success before hand.

As I understand it, registration rates for fialry good PC games vary between the 0.5% and 10% range, with most of the top rates being for puzzle games.

Artifact supports both monthly subscription, and one-time payments. The one-time payments are based on play time available per day. Citizen level is 6 hours per day, Gentry level is 8 hours per day, and so on. So the upgrade rate is the players who paid for Citizen, who later upgraded to a higher level.

david i am a citizen on artifact but i get 9 hours why??
