A rant from a nasty liberal, me.

Honest to god I am sick and tired of reading the news, I'm sick an tired of listening to the news and watching it. Most of all I'm sick and tired having to try and convince others that of peoples absolute stupidity. War is a great example, another Canadian soldier was killed today. In a country of 30,000,000 people, we cry and whine because we've lost 00,000,026 soldiers. Boohoo! Here's a tissue you stupid bastards, what the hell did you think was going to happen!?

Here's my partake on war, once someone writes their name on that sheet they've signed their death certificate. They're dancing with the devil, and having tea with Lucifer in a boil of burning obvilion. What these people need is a good reality check, because this is something that they don't get too often.

The first test will involve a movie, the more clockwork orange you get the better. This movie will flash pictures of real war on the screen, real photographs that we don't see. A man fighting for his cause with half his head missing, and his brains painting a nice picture on a gravel road. A healthy 21 year old kid wrapping one of his arms over his buddy, then he next frame the same kid in hospital with two missing legs and a bandage over his eyes. Anyone who doesn't run out puking is worthy of wasting their life for a noble-less cause.

Living in my shoes seeing people with cancer, diabeties, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, and many other life threatening conditions makes me think of how worthless these people are. There are people out there who can barely walk, and yet these people are throwing their lives out the window. Do they even realise how much they take for granted? It's foolish, yet we idolize these people as heroes! I hardly think this last guy is a hero, his vehicle crashed in to a delivery truck! This is like saying victims of drunk drivers or head on collisions are heroes. You wish buddy.

Go ahead, throw your life away. Just don't tell me about it. I'd much rather hear about another homeless person off the street, then your lack of dignity.

I hate even thinking about this, it just sickens me.

Sir Sapo
I think comparing a soldier to a drunk driver victim doesn't make much sense. Like it or not, without soldiers, you wouldn't be living the nice life you have now. It's sad to think about, but this world isn't perfect, just being nice to somebody doesn't mean they'll be nice to you, and because of this, the armed forces are a necessary evil in this world. Yeah, killing is a bad thing, but without the threat of being killed back, what's to stop Random Warlord #4 from taking whatever he wants?

The real sad thing about this is that you're right. There is always luming uncertainty where ever we go, we don't know if these things will happen. It's too much to ask sometimes to not be told about another death. In Canada since there are so few deaths, each has their 15 minutes of fame. A normal fataility usually gets 2 minutes tops.

I made that connection because this last human died in a head on collision with a delivery truck, an accident. But since it was in Iraq he got the same treat the other 25 got. Then you have the parents talking to reporters about how much their greving, so I switch the channel. Pick up the news paper the next day, the guy has a nice column but the obituaries are neatly tucked in the back.

I'm all ready for my fill of this new breaking story.

I've got to agree with Sapo.

Though, it is your own rights to voice your own thoughts. I'm not bashing anything you have said.

With people in this world that house themselves in these countries that want nothing more than to see somebody die, you have got to have a military force. The soldiers themselves absolutely know what they are putting their life on the line when they enlist. But, to blame them isn't something that you should even be doing. They are risking their life because of their leaders who find it in the best interest of their citizens to protect the lives of future citizens. They don't have the option, they just do. But trust me...

A world without a military may as well not exist and we -all- (including you) should just burn in hell. Terrorists would rise -from- hell to make it feel and look, just like it. Do you really want that? Face it, people in this world wants to kill you, not just a person who wears the uniform. Seeing blood and dieing for, what they believe is an honor (strapping bombs to themselves), ranks high in their satisfaction level.

Nobody wants to be a Hero. Someone that is risking their life and they happen to die by providing support (driving a truck), they are still someone who risked their own life for the support of our (and their brothers) lives.

All in all. Don't watch the news. Keep an open mind when you hear something about war, or deaths. We don't have the power to stop our leaders as an individual, but we have the power to block such things out of our mind.

I'd support this war if it weren't more of a one sided slaughter. Like I said I agree with you to some extent, a military force is needed to keep our individual freedoms. The constant reminder that the world is one big sespool of hate isn't needed.

War sucks. Violence sucks. There is just an incredible amount of it that plagues this world so much that I just vow to be anti-violent. I motivate, rather than demoralize. I support, rather than become a harsh-critic. I just overall come at things with an open mind and do what I want to do, and what I believe is right, without letting other people or things interfere.

It sucks. I definitely wish It wasn't a 1 sided slaughter. I still have guys that I used to work for while I was in the Marines still over there... Dieing.

But we just can't run away and not keep our word. Everybody wants to run away, but seem to not consider the consequences of doing that. Running away to a terrorist just tells them they just need to keep it going, and their opponent will eventually quit. It's happened before and that’s is a baaad signal to give.

Relax. Breathe. Focus on things that make you happy. Because in the end, that is what matters.

The word terrorist has become all too cliche in this day and age. The media just has this philosophy where all bad news is good news, I don't even turn on the tv anymore because of this. I disconnected the cable, because there is nothing on worth watching anymore.

A friend of mine who lives in Vermont is actually concidering the Military as a source of money to pay for his education here in Ottawa. How many people do you think this applies to, no one joins on free will do they?

Got that covered. *sips a coffee* *goes back to programming* [grin]

Education is a reason why some people go into the Military, though I can't say it is the main reason. I've watched an incredible amount of people go into the Military and NEVER use their education benefits. That is a big reason why you have to put in just a little bit in perception for what you get back (Here in the US, put in 1,600, get back 36,000).

In reality. People do it to escape where they are coming from. Quite a few people do it for the nobility of having served their country, but a lot more do it to get away from bad friendships, parents, lifestyle, whatever may be troubling them. They don't normally make a career out of it, they just go in to experience something new, and open more opportunities for themselves in the future (other than jail, drugs, and possibly death on the streets).

MOST of all of the people I worked with enlisted to get away from their past lifestyle.

Personally. I went in the Marines to accomplish something that very few people actually do. I wanted to see the world from another perspective. I wanted to wear the uniform. I didn't think so much about the education benefits, but having been through it, I am glad I have it. I don't have to work and I can focus on school, which makes life much easier. I also have developed an instant persona that people (military or civilian), are interested in hearing about. Which makes Networking great. Overall, I'm glad I did it. Would I do it again with what I know now? No. College is to important to me.

I went to Iraq. It was an experience. I could have died over there, and I still could die if I am re-activated (still have a year and a half left on my contract). Am I ready to die? No. Are any of them ready to die? No. I wasn't thinking about dieing when I enlisted because it was during peace time. Even though you know you are a part of the military, the idea of dieing doesn't kick in until you step on enemy territory, even then, you go into training mode and it becomes a natural evolution (Though, your heart beats a little faster). We all enlisted for our own reasons and we all end up accepting the fact that we may die defending peoples rights as a human. Regardless of where they are in the world. Those Iraqi's deserve to do what they want to do. It's sad to see them like they are, but freedom doesn't come without a price. We all sacrifice so that, someday, maybe they can live in peace and that the idea of peace can be accepted by a land that has been plagued by evil (in my eyes).

Will it happen? I can't answer that. I want to see it happen, but unfortunately, we have people in this world that don't like the way we live. With Iraq on the verge of a Civil War, It doesn't seem like it.

You've just got to look at news with an open mind. I really like to watch the news because it gives me a heads up with what is going on in the world. Sure, they glorify the bad and hardly ever show the good, but it is reality. As a leader, I accept it as a right to be beaten, but I'll never be suprised that I was.

Feel free to throw me a message to get anything off of your chest. Like I said, I'm pretty open minded and I love a good conversation.
